Nice article. I have been discussing the Turcot Interchange on my blog, Walking Turcot Yards (http://neath.wordpress.com) for the past 21 months. Of all the things they could do with the Turcot land, putting a freeway up the middle of it is the most dull, uninspired, absurd idea that could have been thought of. Let Turcot be a great symbol of the city in the 21st Century. It is a remarkable place where the highway and all kinds of good things can co-habitate. It is part of our visual history now. Should we tear down Place Ville Marie to replace it with 12 storeys of condos? Height is good! The Turcot Interchange is truly symbolic of Montreal and we should be thinking of preserving it as part of a world class public space rather than a dull flat highway. Do we really see ourselves as that? I don t think so.
